Private Art Courses & Workshops
Private Art Courses and Workshops are an in depth Art Class that goes into detail about specific topics. These classes are more in depth than a standard Paint Party and will go into more detail regarding practicing techniques and experimenting with different supplies, brushes, etc. Courses and Workshops generally involve a very brief Art History component where we view and discuss well known artists and their contribution to the style we are working on. For example, if the course/workshop is on Impressionism Art, we will most likely view and discuss some artists such as Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Henri Matisse, etc. and how they contributed and formed the artistic movement we are studying to create artwork in that style and use their work as references and for inspiration when creating our pieces.
Courses generally range from 4-8 sessions of approximately 2 hours per session, and Workshops are slightly less detailed versions that are 1-3 sessions. These can be scheduled weekly, biweekly, etc. as long as my schedule allows for it. Courses and Workshops will typically have a drawing component as well as lessons in painting, coloring, shading, etc. techniques. Participants in my Courses and Workshops have much more freedom than in standard Paint Parties. For example, in many Courses/Workshops, participants will be able to create their own individual paintings after learning techniques and practicing with me. So if the class is on painting animals, each participant will be able to paint an animal of their choice.
I require a guarantee of 4 participants or more to schedule Private Courses or Workshops.
Courses and Workshops can be scheduled with me at locations such as event centers, rental halls, etc. as long as the group gets permission ahead of time from the facility for each session. It is the responsibility of the group hosting the Paint Party to secure/rent the facility and get permission to do the Paint Party.
Courses and Workshops can also be scheduled through me at The Conneaut Arts Center or 2 Tees in a Pod.
I prefer not to come to a residence or house to do a course inside the home. HOWEVER, if the house has a garage, outdoor gazebo, etc. where class can take place, I will consider. The facility used for art class must have access to a restroom, sink for me to clean supplies, and must have tables and chairs with enough seats and space for everyone participating. I will need written permission via Email, Facebook Messenger, or a hand written and signed note from the homeowner to conduct class in the home and that I AM NOT liable if anyone spills paint, damages to furniture, etc. due to use of the art supplies.
Courses and Workshops are scheduled with me directly, either via email (ChrisDavisPainting@gmail.com) or Facebook Messenger through my personal page. Event pages can be created on Facebook by the Party Leader to invite and update guests. However, all communication regarding the class with me must be made with me directly via Facebook Messenger or email ONLY. I cannot always keep up with comments on Facebook or in Facebook Events.
Course and Workshop classes generally range from 1.5 hrs - 2 hrs per session, depending on the lesson and how many participants are present. Occasionally we can go beyond the 2 hour limit in a session if everyone in the group agrees.
Please allow me to arrive and set up at least 30 minutes prior to the start of each class if taking place at a location other than the Conneaut Arts Center or 2 Tees in a Pod. Someone from the party must be present to meet me and show me where class will be taking place.
The current minimum number of participants to hold a Course or Workshop is 4.
The facility must be able to accommodate the amount of people taking class without being too crammed.
The facility must have access to a sink and water for me to clean out brushes after class.
All supplies to do the painting are provided, including brushes, acrylic paints, canvas, paper plates, paper towels, etc.
If taking place at a location other than The Conneaut Arts Center or 2 Tees in a Pod, the Party host or participants are responsible for securing tables, chairs, and tablecloths/covers. Different facilities have different sizes of tables so ensure the table covers you get cover the entire surface of the tables. I am not responsible or liable if participants get paint on tables.
Be aware that painting can be messy. It is recommended to wear something you don’t mind getting paint on as paint shirts, aprons, clothing covers are NOT provided by me. Participants may bring their own paint shirts, aprons, covers, etc. if they’d like.
Participants are welcome to have food, snacks, beverages, alcoholic beverages, etc. if the facility allows for it. Participants/Facility must provide their own plates, glasses, utensils, etc. as I do not provide anything other than supplies for the painting itself.
Price:
The Price of a Course or Workshop will depend on the amount of lessons necessary to complete the course/workshop. Generally these will range from $60-$200 per participant for a full Course/Workshop. The price could be more or less depending on length of the class, supplies we will use, etc. Pricing will be discussed with Party Leader before scheduling and an exact price will be agreed upon before scheduling.
Lesson:
The party leader is to notify me of how many participants will be attending at least 3 days prior to class so that I can ensure I bring enough supplies and materials.
Only one lesson can be taught per group. For example, I will not teach Landscape Painting to one person in the group and teach Animal Portraiture to another.
Images found online can also be sent to me to create a custom lesson if sent at least a week in advance.
Adults and Children of age 5+ may participate in Private Courses/Workshops as long as it’s okay with the individual hosting the class.
Payment
Payments may be made the first day of class. Payments can be made as a group, individually, as a whole party, however you’d like as long as the final total payment includes the proper full amount per person. I can accept cash, check, or Venmo. Full payments must be made before I can start class.
If paying in cash, please pay in exact change of whatever price is confirmed per person as I do not carry change.
If taking class at the Conneaut Arts Center, check can be made to the "Conneaut Arts Center". If taking class at 2 Tees in a Pod, check can be made to "2 Tees in a Pod". If class is anywhere else, checks must be made to "Chris Davis"
If paying via Venmo, my account is @Chris-Davis-1131. ONLY PAY ME ON VENMO IF CLASS IS NOT AT THE CONNEAUT ARTS CENTER OR 2 TEES IN A POD.
***if you are the Party Leader, please notify ALL participants of my Payment Policy prior to class***
Cancellations/Rescheduling
