Paint Parties at The Conneaut Arts Center:

*Please note that this information regards scheduling Paint Parties with me at the Conneaut Arts Center. If you want to schedule a Paint Party with me at a different location/facility, the guidelines are different.
**This information is regarding scheduling Private Parties only, to view and register for public classes, visit ConneautArtsCenter.com/classes
Private Parties are scheduled with me directly, either via email (ChrisDavisPainting@gmail.com) or Facebook Messenger through my personal page. Event pages can be created on Facebook by the Party Leader to invite and update guests. However, all communication regarding the class with me must be made with me directly via Facebook Messenger or email ONLY. I cannot always keep up with comments on Facebook or in Facebook Events.
Classes generally range from 1.5 hrs - 3 hrs from start to finish, depending on the lesson and how many participants are present. A Private Paint Party with me is NOT considered a rental for a room at The Conneaut Arts Center. Class is over once the paintings are complete and the studio is cleaned up, even if that is before the 3 hour maximum limit. For example, if class is complete within 2 hours, I will not stay for another hour for participants to socialize. Participants must leave when/before I leave if class takes place AFTER regular office hours (if class takes place while the Conneaut Arts Center is OPEN, participants may stay after I leave). If the group wishes to have more time together BEYOND the time it takes for the full class after office hours, please reach out to the Conneaut Arts Center to inquire about renting a space PRIOR to class with me. Please understand that I am not an hourly employee and I leave once my lesson is complete and everyone's paintings are finished.
The current minimum number of participants to hold a Private Paint Party is 5. Groups of 2-4 may have a private party but there may be an additional cost per person. Please notify me of how many participants will be attending at least a day in advance so that tables, chairs, and class supplies can be set up ahead of time.
It is the responsibility of the host/participants to invite participants to the class. I do not advertise or promote private parties, nor do I invite people to private parties.
All supplies to do the painting are provided, including brushes, acrylic paints, canvas, easels, etc.
Please note that I only use ACRYLIC paints for paint parties, I do NOT use watercolors, oils, tempera, gouache, etc. Occasionally, depending on the lesson, we may use additional materials such as pencils, chalk, permanent markers, etc. in addition to the acrylic paint.
Be aware that painting can be messy. It is recommended to wear something you don’t mind getting paint on as paint shirts, aprons, clothing covers are NOT provided by CAC or myself. Participants may bring their own paint shirts, aprons, covers, etc. if they’d like.
Participants are welcome to bring food, snacks, beverages, alcoholic beverages, etc. Participants must provide their own plates, glasses, utensils, etc.
Lesson:
The party leader is to notify me of which lesson the group would like to do at least 3 days prior to the class, to ensure the proper supplies and materials are ready.
Only one lesson can be taught per group. However, many lessons allow for custom colors to be used and minor changes to be made. I.e. number and placement of trees, birds, etc.
Lessons can be chosen from any of my past or upcoming lessons. These can include Kids Classes or Sip and Paint Classes and can be interchangeable. For example, an adult party may choose to do a lesson originally designed as a kids class, and vice versa. To view my lessons, click this link.
Images found online can also be sent to me to create a custom lesson if sent at least a week in advance. If I create a custom lesson for your group, I reserve the right to use that lesson made for future public, private, and fundraiser classes.
Adults and Children of age 5+ may participate in Private Paint Parties as long as it’s okay with the individual hosting the party.
Price:
$35 per person ($31.50 for CAC Members) using 11x14 Stretched Canvas or any size Slate (if available).
$25 per person ($22.50 for CAC Members) using 8x10 Stretched Canvas.
*Member prices are ONLY for the individuals who are CAC members. If a party host is a CAC member, that does NOT mean that everyone in the group gets the CAC Member discount, only the participants who also hold current CAC memberships.
***$15 per person for "October/November 2024 Paint Party Special of Birds on Birch Trees. These are on 8x10 Canvas Boards.
***$15 per person for "December 2024/January 2025 Paint Party Special of Penguin. These are on 8x10 Canvas Boards.
Payment
Payments may be made the day of class. Oftentimes, the CAC office is closed during Private Paint Parties. Please bring the exact change amount or a check made out to the Conneaut Arts Center as I do not have access to the cash drawer in the office to give change back. At the end of class, I turn in all payments to the office. Any additional pay will be considered a tip unless I receive cash from other participants to give change back. If someone in your party can only pay via credit/debit, please let me know at least a week in advance so that arrangements can be made with office staff to handle that transaction prior to class. Payments can be made as a group, individually, as a whole party, however you’d like as long as the final total payment includes the proper amount per person. Please DO NOT write checks to 'Chris Davis' or pay me via Venmo for classes at The Conneaut Arts Center as all monetary transactions for classes at the Conneaut Arts Center must go through the Conneaut Arts Center and then they pay me via direct deposit.

Late Policy
If your group is running late to the scheduled paint party at the Conneaut Arts Center, someone from the group must contact me via Facebook Messenger or email to update me. If no one from the party arrives within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time, I will attempt to contact the party leader via the original means of communication. If I do not have a response by 20 minutes after the scheduled start time, I will begin packing the supplies away and I will leave the Conneaut Arts Center after 30 minutes of the scheduled start time. Once I leave for the day, I will not return to conduct the class. I reserve the right to refuse rescheduling paint parties in the future if I’m not given proper prior notice of a group running late.
If a participant is running late, we may be able to wait up to 10-15 minutes after the scheduled start time for them depending on the specific lesson. If a participant is running later than 15 minutes but is certainly on their way, I can start their painting for them so that they do not have to catch up, if they wish. I will NOT stay after a class is completed and everyone else is finished for a participant who arrived late to catch up and complete their painting. However, they may stay and work on their painting while I clean up but once I am finished cleaning, everyone must leave. This is out of fairness to myself, other paint groups that may be scheduled back to back, and to other instructors who may be scheduled to use the space after me.
Cancellations/Rescheduling
If the paint party must be canceled or rescheduled, please notify me immediately via Facebook Messenger or email at least 6 hours prior to the scheduled start time of the class. I reserve the right to refuse rescheduling a group if notice is given less than 1 hour in advance of the scheduled start time.
*Please understand that I am not an employee of the Conneaut Arts Center and I only arrive to conduct my scheduled classes. I do not receive a salary from CAC for my time there, my pay is a commission percentage per participant who takes my classes (reason for minimum of 5 participants requirement). I drive 25+ minutes to get to the Conneaut Arts Center and always arrive at least 30 minutes in advance to set up for class. So please communicate with me as soon as possible if a group is running late, needs to cancel, or wants to reschedule.
Entrance/Class Location & Handicap Accessibility:
Please enter the Conneaut Arts Center through the Front Side Door, as indicated in the below photos. This entrance is directly off of the front driveway. Class will be in the Basement Art Studio (unless otherwise specified via communication with me). Oftentimes during Paint Parties, there are other events/rentals/classes happening at the Conneaut Arts Center and this entrance allows us to come and go directly to the Art Studio without interrupting other events.
There is a handicap accessible chair lift for anyone who needs it to get to the Basement Art Studio. Please notify me prior to class if anyone needs a handicap entrance into the building as there is a specific handicap entrance that will need to be unlocked to have access to the chair lift. For liability reasons, I personally CANNOT assist participants getting into and out of the chair lift.
