Schedule a Public Paint Party at Your Business:
***Please note this information is for business owners/managers who want to host a public paint party led my me at their business location. This page is NOT information regarding scheduling private parties***
Paint Parties can be scheduled with me at any business building/facility in Ashtabula County or nearby areas as long as there is enough space to hold the class and so that class will not interfere with or be in the way of the business’ daily operations.
Paint Parties are scheduled with me directly, either via email (ChrisDavisPainting@gmail.com) or Facebook Messenger through my personal page. Event pages can be created on Facebook by the Business to invite and update guests. However, all communication regarding the class with me must be made with me directly via Facebook Messenger or email ONLY. I cannot always keep up with comments on Facebook or in Facebook Events.
Classes generally range from 1.5 hrs - 3 hrs from start to finish, depending on the lesson and how many participants are present.
Please allow me to arrive and set up at least 30 minutes prior to the start of class. Someone from the business must be present to meet me and show me where class will be taking place.
The current minimum number of participants to hold a Paint Party is 5. I reserve the right to cancel class 3-5 days in advance if the minimum number of participants are not pre-registered.
The facility must be able to accommodate the amount of people taking class without being too crammed or uncomfortable.
The facility must have access to a sink and water for me to clean out brushes after class.
It is highly recommended that restrooms are available to the public/participants during the class.
The Business is responsible for securing tables, chairs, and tablecloths/covers. Different facilities have different sizes of tables so ensure the table covers you get cover the entire surface of the tables. I am not responsible or liable if participants get paint on tables.
Be aware that painting can be messy. It is recommended to advertise that participants wear something they don’t mind getting paint on. Paint shirts, aprons, clothing covers are NOT provided by me. Participants may bring their own paint shirts, aprons, covers, etc. if they’d like. Business may also provide aprons, etc. if they wish.
I AM NOT LIABLE OR RESPONSIBLE IF A PARTICIPANT GETS PAINT ON A SURFACE NOT INTENDED FOR PAINT.
Please note that I only use ACRYLIC paints for paint parties, I do NOT use watercolors, oils, tempera, gouache, etc. Occasionally, depending on the lesson, we may use additional materials such as pencils, chalk, permanent markers, etc. in addition to the acrylic paint.
Participants are welcome to have food, snacks, beverages, alcoholic beverages, etc. if the facility/Business allows for it. Participants/Facility must provide their own plates, glasses, utensils, etc. as I do not provide anything other than supplies for the painting itself.
Lesson:
I will assist in advertising for the public class by posting on my social media and website as long as a means of registration is given to me to advertise for registration. This may include a link to an Eventbrite page to sign up, email or phone number to whoever is handling registration, etc. Please note that I DO NOT handle registration or keep track of sign ups for paint party events. It is the responsibility of the party host or someone involved to manage sign ups.
The business or whomever is handling registration is to notify me of how many participants will be attending at least 3 days prior to class so that I can ensure I bring enough supplies and materials.
Only one lesson can be taught per group. However, many lessons allow for custom colors to be used and minor changes to be made. I.e. number and placement of trees, birds, etc.
Lessons can be chosen from any of my past or upcoming lessons. These can include Kids Classes or Sip and Paint Classes and can be interchangeable. For example, an adult party may choose to do a lesson originally designed as a kids class, and vice versa. To view my lessons, click this link.
Images found online can also be sent to me to create a custom lesson prior to advertising for class.
Adults and Children of age 5+ may participate in Paint Parties as long as it’s okay with the business hosting the party. Business reserves the right to limit ages and numbers of participants, but must notify me prior to advertising so that I can ensure I advertise properly.
I DO NOT handle registration, it is the responsibility of the business to keep track of sign ups and payment. I recommend requesting prepayment to ensure individuals who sign up show up.
I will help advertise the class on my Facebook page and my website.
Business responsibilities:
Advertise and promote class.
Handle registration and payment.
Ensure tables, chairs, tablecloths etc. are prepared for me to set up when I arrive
Divide payment and ensure I receive my percentage on the day of class.
Assist me in cleaning up/putting tables back where they belong, emptying trash, etc.
Contact participants if class must be cancelled or postponed.
My responsibilities:
Advertise and promote class
Arrive 30 minutes prior to start to class to set up for class
Create a lesson to use for advertising and to instruct
Lead class and help participants to start and finish their artwork within the time frame
Bring supplies necessary for painting (if agree that I will provide supplies)
I will clean up after class and assist in putting tables, chairs, etc. back.
Price:
Class price can be discussed when planning the event, I generally charge the following but this is negotiable:
$35-$40 per person using 11x14 Stretched Canvas.
$25-$30 per person using 8x10 Stretched Canvas.
This cost will be what the business and I decide together to charge per ticket to class. I will receive an agreed upon percentage of the total income at the conclusion of class. For example, if we decide to charge $40 per ticket to class and we agree upon a 70%/30% cut, I would receive $28 per person and the business would receive $12 per person. The business or person representing the business will divide the total income at the conclusion of class and give me my percentage.
Please enforce a Pre-Pay/Down-Payment policy upon registration for public classes. I find that people oftentimes will reserve seats and then not show up if they do not pre-pay or make a down payment. This takes spots away from others being able to join if a class if seating is limited. I also recommend enforcing a policy in which no refund is available for participants who cancel the day or class or who do not show up.
Pay Cuts/Percentages:
If I supply everything for the painting, I generally require a 70/30 cut (70% to me, 30% to the business). If the business would like to provide supplies, the cut will be 60/40 (60% to me, 40% to the business). If business wants to provide supplies, I can create a supply list at the request of the business.
These percentages are negotiable and I am happy to discuss prices, pay cuts, etc. while planning the class. For example, if the business will be providing dinner, beverages, snacks, or other items along with the class as part of the ticket sale, I am willing to lower my percentage to help cover the expenses of the business. I will not negotiate an already established percentage the day of class.
Payment
Payments to me must be made the DAY OF CLASS. I can accept cash, check, or Venmo. Full payments must be made either before I start class or at the conclusion of class.
If paying in cash, please pay in exact change owed to me as I do not carry change. Any additional pay will be considered a tip.
If paying by check, please make it out to “Chris Davis”
If paying via Venmo, my account is @Chris-Davis-1131
Cancellations/Rescheduling
If the paint party must be cancelled or rescheduled, please notify me immediately via Facebook Messenger or email at least 6 hours prior to the scheduled start time of the class.
I reserved the right to cancel class if a minimum of 5 participants are not registered for class.
